Policy

There have been lots of policies and documents on services for deaf people with mental health problems. In the last ten years it has become an area that is more widely recognised as needing specific services and policy.

The pages in this section detail these policy developments or point you in the right direction. Specialist services still work in the mainstream world, and wider mental health policy is important. Because of this, informaiton has been included on general mental health policy.

There have been two inquiries into homicides that have raised the profile of mental health services for deaf people. Details of these inquiries are included as they are still relevant to services for deaf patients today.
