Accountability and Involving Deaf People

The Disability Equality Duty gives Deaf people an opportunity to work with public authorities to make improvements. Most public authorities will welcome the involvement of Deaf people, as they are required under the law to include disabled people in writing the Disability Equality Scheme. And, if you feel a public authority is not doing all that it should, you will be able to ask for a copy of their Disability Equality Scheme and see whether they are reaching their targets.
